Quick-EDD/HA high availability for IBM i training plan

The HIGH-AVAILABILITY process needs a good understanding of the environment, it implies flawless skill transfer that will be done throughout the implementation period, from the analysis phase, to the final switch tests. 
Training is thus spread throughout the period, and concerns the high availability principle itself as much as the Quick-EDD/HA product. Participants will take part, depending on level and role, in part or all of the implementation.

STEP 1 - GLOBAL SCHEME (2 TO 4 DAYS)

INTRODUCTION:
 Product philosophy
 Presentation of services provided for the customer

ANALYSIS :
Prior ANALYSIS of the system, the applications, the configuration... 

 Definition of the perimeter of high availability 
 2 to 4 days study depending on the site 
 Production of a document describing the solution 
 Approval by all participants


STEP 3 - TESTS - SIMULATION (1 DAY)

TESTS:
 Validation of replication process
 - Data verification 
 - Verification of replication start and stop processes 
 - Verification of restart points

SIMULATION:
 Simulation of a switch to the back-up environment : 
 - Stopping of production system
 - Implementation of all emergency procedures
 - Verification of restart points 
 - Making the emergency system available to granted 
    users

STEP 2 - SETTING UP (2 TO 3 DAYS)

INSTALLATION:
 Installation of product on 2 IBM  (AS400, iSeries, I5, Power i) 
 New release and change installation procedure

SETTINGS:
 Description of different steps 
 Back-up site settings
 Settings for the different groups to be secured: 
- Applications (data and objects) 
- System Environment (security, configuration) 
- The IFS 
- Spool management 
- System values

PRODUCTION : 
 Implementation of automation procedures 
- Start up procedures 
- Integration of Quick-EDD/HA into the site global
production scheme (IPL, back-ups…) 
- Supervision of Quick-EDD/HA

TRAINING
 User training

SWITCH :
 Implementation of switch procedures (log book)
